Nord-Lock wedge-locking washers are a two-piece locking system designed to prevent bolted joints from loosening under vibration and dynamic loads.
Unlike traditional spring washers or nyloc nuts, Nord-Lock washers secure bolted assemblies using wedge-locking cam technology. The cam angle between the washer pair is greater than the bolt thread pitch, ensuring that any attempt at loosening increases clamp load rather than reduces it.
This makes Nord-Lock washers ideal for critical structural and high-vibration applications.
Each Nord-Lock washer set consists of two washers:
Cam faces on the inside
Radial teeth on the outside
When tightened:
The radial teeth grip the joint surfaces
The cam faces lock together
Any loosening movement is counteracted by increased tension
This prevents spontaneous bolt loosening caused by vibration, shock loads or dynamic stress.
